Background
The Goal/Purpose of this study was to use a combination of wound care therapies in order to close a wound in an immune compromised patient. A 60 year old immune-compromised male had presented status post partial fifth ray amputation with a full thickness wound measuring 3.4 x 2.9 x 0.6 cm located plantar-lateral to the styloid process of the remaining fifth metatarsal.

Methods
After several failed attempts of closure, a basement membrane containing ECM Wound Sheet was applied over a concentrated platelet clot and then enclosed with a highly native Type I collagen dressing in a short stay, ambulatory facility. The basement membrane containing ECM Wound Sheet is a naturally occurring, non-crosslinked, extra-cellular matrix that is derived from porcine urinary bladder matrix (UBM). The highly native collagen dressing which is a bovine derived collagen matrix, is also infused with silver in order to add an antimicrobial property to the dressing.

Results / Conclusion
In symphony, a basement membrane containing ECM wound sheet in conjunction with a highly native collagen dressing adds to the efficacy current evidence based negative pressure wound closure. In this case the combination of treated has been illustrated to be an efficacious method of minimizing the surface are of a neurotrophic ulcer in an immune-compromised patient. This case study illustrated noteworthy results 3 weeks status post and complete closure within two months.
