With APWCA2010,
we will continue to offer many exciting options and
opportunities to recognize the financial support your company provides
to APWCA. The result is increased awareness of the services and/or
products that you provide to the wound care community. Please note
the enclosed material explaining various new opportunities available and
contact us with any questions or suggestions.
When providing support, there are many considerations as to where each
company or organization chooses to donate their funding. Here are some
of those considerations that should hopefully allow the company you
represent to allow APWCA to be a primary Association to receive your
support.
During the past nine years, since our formation in May, 2001, the
Association has grown to approximately 2,800 members, 75% - 80% of which
are prescribing physicians. APWCA is one of the most rapidly expanding
organizations in wound care in the United States and with increased
membership, we have also developed many new activities to support the
members who provide wound care to patients on a daily basis. Industry
support is vital toward carrying out the mission of the Association.
There are important differences that are part of supporting APWCA and
its National Clinical Conference. First is that our
membership demographic is about 80% physician. A larger percentage of
conference attendees are physicians and then other wound care meetings.
Additionally, APWCA is a completely independent organization and not
affiliated with a corporate entity. This an important distinction as
many if not ALL other larger national wound care conferences that are
multidisciplinary are affiliated with a major corporate or owned by a
corporate often for profit organization. APWCA is involved with many
activities that benefit and move the field of wound care further. One of
these is the development the first Certificate of Added Qualification
Examination specifically for physicians regardless of Association
affiliation that is administered by the not for profit Council for
Medical Education and testing (CMET). Robert Bartlett, MD, FAPWCA
is the CMET president which the only physician specific organization in
wound care. The purpose of forming this organization is to develop and
now administer the physician specific wound care certification exam
which is anticipated to be a precursor toward
the establishment of Specialty Recognition in Wound Care, Residency Programs and
then a true Board Certification process. In addition the APWCA supports
industry through insurance interaction and other methods so that
providers may have access to services and supplies needed to treat
patients. The increased scope of Association activities and programs
require greater financial resources.
We hope you will once again make a financial commitment to assist the
APWCA in meeting its goals and objectives. Please also consider
increasing your level of financial support so that this Association can
continue to flourish as we partner together to improve care, provide
educational resources and champion patient advocacy.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like
to discuss your commitment to APWCA2010.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
